I went into the back garden today with the camera to see if anything wanted it's photo taken and before taking 5 steps I noticed a few of this years froglets on the garden steps, so I thought I would practice my micro-photography.
The froglets have grown well this summer but are still less than 8mm in size, so I needed to get real close.
I also had to cope with low lighting levels, initially shooting at an 8th of a second shutter speed, but the F2.7 aperture gave me insufficient depth of field. This was overcome by forcing the flash to fire which reduced the aperture to F4.5 at a 40th of a second.
To get an idea of scale you may notice the sand grains on some of the froglets.
